NFL Raises Its Game With Women Consumers
Are you ready for some football? Ladies, I’m talking to you. Or to put it more accurately – the NFL is talking to you. This week, the NFL and Vogue magazine (yes, you read that right) held a music-pumping, high fashion, celebrity-filled event demonstrating that the NFL women’s apparel line is all grown up and here to stay. After attending this event, I may never wear my Chicago Bears tee shirt the same way again.
The NFL/Vogue event was held yesterday at Grand Central Station, in the shadow of New York Fashion Week, which starts on Thursday. Hundreds of commuters stopped in their tracks to catch a glimpse of this unusual football-meets-fashion show. Were they hallucinating, or were dozens of beautiful women sashaying around Vanderbilt Hall in feathers, sequins and Jets jerseys? Celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch served as the event’s emcee and creative fashion director, and a female DJ (DJ Kiss) supplied the high energy playlist for a make-shift runway filled with famous faces like Stacy Keibler (an NFL brand ambassador), Vivica Fox , Lenay Dunn, Susan Lucci, and models Carol Alt and Frederique Van Dar Waal, to name just a few.
